TENUTA DO LEONI.
Piwi super bio.

This uncultivated land offered many possibilities.
It presented extraordinary opportunities and posed difficult and unique challenges, such as the desire to be organic, sustainable and authentic.

Every bud represents a choice: to protect the soil, the landscape and life itself. This is how we selected the new plantations at Tenuta Do Leoni: vines whose sap carries the strength of tomorrow.

NATURALLY RESISTANT.
PIWI GRAPE VARIETIES.

By reducing treatments, protecting the ecosystem and promoting responsible and conscious wine production, we have chosen to cultivate PIWI grape varieties.

The term PIWI comes from the German Pilzwiderstandsfähig, meaning 'fungus resistant'. These plants are the result of crossbreeding to produce grapes with the organoleptic properties typical of European varieties and the primordial resistance to fungal attacks typical of wild vines.

THE INFLUENCE OF THE LAND:
THE TERRITORY OF BUGANO AND COLDERUGA.

The Influence of the Land: The Territory of Bugano and Colderuga.
Tenuta Do Leoni is nestled in the Bugano hills of the Berica Riviera, near Vicenza, at the foot of the Berici Hills.

The red clay and limestone rocks, of marine sedimentary origin, are ideal for producing quality wines with marked minerality and sapidity in whites and structure and longevity in reds.

THE WHITE BERRY: SOUVIGNIER GRIS

Souvignier Gris is an interesting newcomer to the wine scene. This grape variety originated in Freiburg, Germany, in 1983, but it was not added to the Italian National Register of Vine Varieties until 2014. This young grape variety stands out for its atypical path. It represents a contemporary reflection on viticulture and opens up new expressive possibilities, leaving the glass to do the talking.

Our white wine is made from pure Souvignier Gris grapes. It is golden yellow in color with light coppery hues. The intense aroma has notes of citrus and exotic fruits that balance with a fresh taste on the palate, marked by minerality and delicate acidity.

LA PRIMA. 2024.
OUR WINE.

Our journey into the world of wine began with the creation of LA PRIMA, a project that initially yielded 330 bottles, each meticulously numbered by hand. This inaugural production caught immediate attention.

It is an aperitif wine that naturally accompanies goat cheese and walnut crostini. It pairs well with the first course of a meal and goes particularly well with fish, such as grilled shrimp, and delicate dishes like risotto with asparagus or wild herbs. It also pairs well with certain Asian dishes, as its spicy notes correspond with dishes that use ginger or lemongrass.

RED GRAPE: THE PRIOR THAT IS GROWING

Prior is a German PIWI wine created in Freiburg in 1987. It is the most promising of the red PIWI wines, with fruity aromas and spicy notes.

It has been cultivated at Tenuta Do Leoni since a few years ago and is paired with Souvignier Gris, nestled among the Berici hills. Harvesting and vinification still require time. We are waiting patiently and eagerly for the right moment to harvest, as the new plants are still very young.

A WINE BUSINESS.
MANY RELATIONSHIPS.

Soon, the buzzing of bees will be heard among the apple and wild pear trees, under the hawthorn and field maple trees. On the vineyard, we integrate wine cultivation with native tree systems to preserve biodiversity. This venture was born out of passion, professionalism, and friendship. We immediately shared the viticultural project of redeveloping and enhancing the land with the utmost respect for the surrounding ecosystem with Berardo da Schio,  an agronomist with extensive experience. This is how the land became Tenuta Do Leoni.
